Peewee Falls

Peewee Falls, towering at 233 feet, is the tallest freestanding waterfall in Northeast Washington, cascading into the Pend Oreille River’s Z-Canyon. This area, transformed by the construction of the Boundary Dam, features breathtaking cliffs and additional waterfalls. Originally known as Periwee Falls, it was named after a French fur trapper who first settled the area. Today, Peewee Falls is a stunning spectacle, primarily enjoyed from the water but also viewable from a new trailhead and platform across the canyon, offering expansive views.

The Drive

A short drive from Metaline Falls leads to the Boundary Dam Campground. This free facility provides a boat launch serving as the gateway to accessing Peewee Falls.

The Hike

Direct foot access to the falls is not available. Visitors can enjoy views from a platform a few hundred feet from the parking area, or by watercraft for an up-close experience.

The Falls

Peewee Falls plummets over a sheer granite face into Z-Canyon, misting kayakers and paddleboarders with its powerful spray.

Don’t Forget

Cell service is unavailable in this remote location. Watercraft is required to fully experience the falls due to inaccessible shoreline.
