Salt Creek Falls

Salt Creek Falls, one of Oregon’s most impressive natural wonders, is located in the Willamette National Forest. As the second highest single-drop waterfall in Oregon, it boasts a spectacular plunge of 286 feet. The falls cascade over a thick basalt ledge formed by ancient lava flows from Fuji Mountain and Mount Yoran, carved by glacial action and the active creek. This impressive waterfall is easily accessible and provides stunning year-round views, especially from its two main viewpoints. The upper viewpoint offers a panoramic view from the rim of the natural amphitheater, while the lower viewpoint gives a more direct perspective of the falls.

The Drive

Located 23 miles southeast of Oakridge, Salt Creek Falls is reached via a scenic drive on a forest road leading to a well-marked parking lot.

The Hike

A brief, paved path offers easy access to the main overlook, with an optional steeper trail leading down to a lower viewpoint.

The Falls

Salt Creek Falls, plunging 286 feet, is a striking display, particularly powerful during spring and early summer.

Don’t Forget

A $30 annual Northwest Forest Pass is needed for access. Purchase it at US Geological Survey, REI, Oregon Parks Forever, or Discover Your Northwest.
