Myrtle Falls

Myrtle Falls is a prominent feature within the serene expanse of the Kootenai Wildlife Refuge. This remarkable 80-foot waterfall cascades into a majestic amphitheater of rock, offering visitors a spectacle of nature’s power and beauty. Positioned close to the Refuge’s Interpretive Center, Myrtle Falls is complemented by educational trails, including signage designed to engage children with the ecosystem’s story, making it an enlightening experience for visitors of all ages.

The Drive

Just 5 miles west of Bonners Ferry, this scenic drive showcases the Kootenai River Valley’s beauty, sending you through sprawing farmlands at the foothills of the Selkirk mountains.

The Hike

An easy, yet enriching, trail leads to Myrtle Falls, starting with a paved interpretive path that crosses a scenic bridge. A dirt path ascends steeply to the viewing platform.

Thunderous flow in the spring and a serene cascade in the summer. The viewing platform provides an exceptional vantage point.

Within Kootenai Wildlife Refuge, dogs and drones are prohibited to preserve the delicate ecosystem. Be mindful of limited cell service.
